Hey there, I’m Sharise! I am a married mommy of two who likes to share road trip travel experiences and inspire others to get out and go.

I live in western New York where I am originally from but, I spent over a decade in Maryland where I met my husband. We traveled before we had kids and the fun didn’t stop after, it just looks different! Growing up, family road trips were the most exciting parts of my summer. My goal has always been to create the same type of memories for my family.

Adventure doesn’t end with an autism diagnosis

Having a child with autism did not change our desire to explore the world with our kids to create memories. For us, it meant there were just many more things to consider when traveling with an autistic family member. Our vacations might not look like everyone elses, and that’s okay!

With 4 Four the Road I hope to inspire other autism families to experience travel, highlight autism-friendly destinations, and provide tips and tricks that have worked for us. The journey of every family with an autistic loved one is different, but for those who want or can adventure out, we want to help by sharing what we have learned (and continue to learn). From a 30 minute drive to national park to a cross-country road trip, find your comfort level and go fo it!

Homeschool Family

We becane a homeschool family in 2021!  We homeschool our oldest but our youngest still attends public school. Our journey, like many others has been interesting. There are ups and downs to homeschooling and with a child on the austism spectrum, there are additional layers to our experience.

I share more about our homeschool journey on this blog. I am not an expert, but just hope to share what we learn as we go!

I write other stuff too

I love of reading and writing led me to a B.A. in Public Relations and eventually my M.S in Professional Writing. Writing has always been a part of me and 4 Four the Road just gives me a space to share. I did write a book a few years ago and may write another someday. The book is about college internships because I’ve spent over 20 years working in college admissions and career placement.

While most writing these days is about travel, I have a professional background in writing articles, email campaigns, newsletters, websites and professional bio’s. If you have a writing project and would like to connect, feel free to reachout to discuss!
